Simon Weldons affinity with Industry originated through an understanding of the cultural, and personal history of his native area of West Yorkshire whilst studying at the Batley School of Art & Design. Since his realisation, he has continuously worked within this theme for both artistic, and commercial purposes. Weldon endeavors to use the camera as a tool to learn, absorb and connect with different trades.
During the spring of 2012, Weldon created the Quarry series, documenting the people, infrastructure and raw power involved in the extraction of limestone in Derbyshire.
Quarry has been exhibited at the Menier Gallery, London, White Cloth Gallery, Leeds, and at FORMAT13 International Photography Festival.
